TIA Responds to FCC ‘Measuring Broadband’ Report; Says Broadband Advancement Must be Accelerated

Arlington, VA (June 18, 2014) – The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), the leading association representing the manufacturers and suppliers of high-tech communications networks, today commented on the FCC’s annual report, Measuring Broadband America.  TIA President Grant Seiffert commented:

“The report demonstrates that carriers continue to make meaningful progress in advancing broadband performance. Delivering higher speeds and greater access is essential for economic growth and job creation, and for spreading economic opportunity throughout the country.

“While this progress is impressive, we agree with the FCC that even more must be done. This is not a time for providers and regulators to declare victory, but rather it’s a time to accelerate our efforts.  With so much at stake for our nation’s economic future, TIA has made the advancement of broadband a top priority in our Innovation Agenda.  We will continue to push providers and the industry to do even more to upgrade broadband infrastructure and expand deployment and deliver consistent service to consumers and businesses.”
