TIA Supports Petitions to Overturn Title II Rules
Arlington, Va. (September 28, 2017) – The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), the leading association representing the manufacturers and suppliers of high-tech communications networks, today expressed support for the petitioners seeking to overturn the D.C. Circuit’s decision to uphold Title II reclassification for internet service providers.
Cinnamon Rogers, TIA’s Senior Vice President for Government Affairs, commented:
“TIA supports the petitions filed with the Supreme Court today seeking to overturn the D.C. Circuit decision upholding Title II reclassification for internet service providers and the FCC’s rules. TIA has long supported a free and open internet achieved through Title I classification that allows manufacturers and suppliers of today’s communications networks the ability to respond to technological advancements and growing consumer demands for high-tech products and services.
Ultimately, a permanent legislative solution would put an end to this regulatory and judicial back and forth. Legislative certainty on this issue will allow for increased private sector investment and innovation in our communications infrastructure to the benefit all Americans. We look forward to working with Congress towards creating a positive framework that promotes openness across the full internet ecosystem.”
